Mi padre solía cantarme estas canciones.

Tenía buena voz, y me hacía llorar.

Sail bonnie boat, like a bird on the wing,
Onward, the sailors cry,
Carry the lad that was born to be king
Over the sea to Skye.

Though the waves leap, soft shall ye sleep,
Ocean's a royal bed.
Rock'd in the deep Flora will keep
Watch o'er your weary head.

La segunda fue un hit en los años sesenta, titulada "Turn Around":
Where are you going
My little one, little one
Where are you going
My baby, my own
Turn around and you’re two
Turn around and you’re four
Turn around and you’re a young girl
Going out of the door
Turn around, turn around
Turn around and you’re a young girl
Climbing over the wall
Where are you going
My little one, little one
Little pigtails and petticoats
Where have they gone
Turn around and you’re tiny
Turn around and you’re grown
Turn around and you’re a young wife
With babes of your own.

I peeked in
to say goodnight
when I heard my child in prayer
"And for me
some scarlet ribbons
scarlet ribbons for my hair"
All the shops
were closed and shuttered
all the streets
were dark and bare
In our town
no scarlet ribbons
not one ribbon for her hair.
Through the night my heart was aching
just before the dawn was breaking
I peeked in and on her bed
in gay profusion laying there
I saw ribbons
scarlet ribbons scarlet ribbons for her hair
If I live to be a hundred
I will never know from where
Came those lovely scarlet ribbons
scarlet ribbons for her hair.

No es el orgullo

lo que ciega mi corazón.
Es tu hambre,
tu pereza canicular.

Debo dejar de repetir la palabra "soledad".
Parece que la uso de excusa
para abrazar el hueco que me recorre
desde el diafragma hasta el tobillo,
haciendo de mis costados
una extensión de mis piernas,
y desplazando el eje
de la cadera
hasta la clavícula.

Así resalto los hundimientos:
valles sin crestas,
depresiones, lagos,
la matriz, el ombligo,
la ausencia de tu lengua.

En cambio, si dejo de repetirlo
como niña de rosario
puede que mi fe
eventualmente se extinga.

where you cannot make ridiculously sweet hot chocolate and watch Casablanca with someone you love, is not much a day at all."
